Scholarships: The whole truth

We have won more than $75,000,000,000 academic scholarships for our students. But beware: Scholarships are not free, i.e. the higher the scholarship offered by a university or college, the lower the academic level of that university will be compared to the level the student deserves. In other words, with a lower scholarship or no scholarship at all, the same student could have been admitted to a university with a higher academic level and higher ranking. Therefore, when faced with a limited budget, it is preferable for our children to study without a scholarship at a cheaper university with a higher academic level and surrounded by good students than at a more expensive one with a lower level and mediocre students, even if we are offered a scholarship. We will never recommend that you sacrifice the quality and level of the university for a scholarship offer, no matter how generous it may be. There are pseudo-university options for much less than $30,000 per year (categories 7, 8 and 9), but they are NOT worth it and we will NEVER recommend such a low level university.

How much does it cost to study in the USA at a good university? Can I get scholarships?

We should not expect to pay less than $30,000 per year, The tuition fees of an American university with an acceptable level can be equivalent to those of many private Spanish universities, i.e. from about $15,000 per year. And it is possible to reduce that figure a little with various scholarships for academic merit (although anyone who says they are easy to obtain for an international student is either lying or condemning him or her to very mediocre universities). And the costs of a university flat plus meals and personal expenses would be equivalent to what it would cost us to send our children to study in any Spanish city, or about $13-15,000 per year. Therefore we would be talking about minimum costs of approx. $28-30,000 per year In the Low-Cost segment, possible scholarships included. Are there for less? Of course, there are for $18,000, 15,000 or even $10,000 per year all-inclusive, but they are very small, bad and not recommended at all. Will I have access to apply to any American university or only to a limited list?

Unlike other consultants, we are not agents of any university or group of universities. Through our comprehensive service, which is completely independent, we are able to provide you with the best possible service, you can apply to any of the 4,298 We filtered the 250 best universities in the United States, classifying them into 9 different levels or categories. And from this universe of the TOP 250, after taking into account your GPA, the grades you obtain in the official entrance exams (SAT-ACT and TOEFL), your essays and letters of recommendation and your preferences regarding the size, type and location of the universities, we will propose a preliminary list of the best 50-100 universities that fit your profile and that have the best ranking in the country for the degree you want to study. And you will select the approx. 15 finalist universities to which we will apply, depending on your specific chances of being admitted to each of them. We will never apply to a university you don't like or don't want to go to. It is always your choice!

How long does the application process take and when should I start? When do university classes start in the United States?

Although it is possible to carry out the Simplified and Low-Cost Process for students who are already in the 2nd year of Bachillerato, the Integral Process should begin when the student is finishing ESO or has started the 1st year of Bachillerato. The preparation for the official entrance exams (SAT, ACT) and English level (TOEFL) should be prepared well in advance, since the chances of being admitted to a Level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 University will depend in part on the grades obtained. And all applications must be perfectly completed and submitted preferably in the autumn before the start of the course, so that you have at least half a year to receive the various letters of admission or rejection, make the decision on the university you want to go to, complete all the immigration and visa procedures, and prepare your trip for the start of the course, which is usually during the first two weeks of August. However, if you are already finishing the 2nd year of Bachillerato or if you are not able to obtain a good grade in English or Mathematics (SAT or Toefl), we can also start the process to begin the degree in August of the same year through the Simplified Process or the Low-Cost Process. Or you can take advantage of a semester or sabbatical year to calmly complete a good Integrated Application Process while you improve your English, work or explore as a listener and without pressure a first university year in Spain before starting your degree in the USA. That way your first year grades in the USA will be even better.

Will I be able to start a career in the USA without knowing what I really want to study, and will I be able to change my career if I start one and don't like it?

Yes and yes. The university system in the United States is so flexible that you can begin exploratory or generic university studies and decide what you want to study during the first semesters, while at the same time taking generalist credits and/or credits related to the area of study you prefer. You can also change your degree programme at any time without any problems.

Can I study medicine in the USA?

Of course we do. Although some inexperienced agencies advise against studying medicine in the USA, our process will take you by the hand to be admitted to the various Pre-Med and later Med-Schools of the most prestigious universities in the United States.

Do you have to be a brilliant student to study in the USA?

Not at all. The American university system is so flexible and comprehensive that we can select dream universities for any academic level, whether for students with brilliant high school grades (in which case we can also get higher scholarships) or for students with moderate grade point averages (6-7 out of 10) or even for students with merely passing averages (5 out of 10).

What is necessary to enter a university in the USA? Is it necessary to take the International Baccalaureate, the Dual Baccalaureate or the Selectividad (EBAU-EvAU) to study at a university in the USA?

No, it is not necessary. Passing the normal Spanish Bachillerato is enough to study any university degree in the USA.

Do I need a very high level of English?

Not necessarily. Many excellent universities have adaptation programmes for students who do not have a sufficient level of English at the outset. In these programmes, which usually last one or two semesters, English language classes are combined with classes in the chosen degree programme. At the end of this period, students are fully integrated into their chosen degree programme, having already completed the same credits as other students. During this time the student sleeps, eats, lives and uses all the resources of the University like any other student.

Do I need a visa to study in the USA?

Yes, and our service includes assistance throughout the whole process of processing the student visa, preparation of the personal interview, as well as the preparation and logistics of the trip that the whole family usually makes to accompany the student to the University (Move-In Day), advising them on flights, transfers and transfers, the necessary bedding, opening a bank account, phone sim card, school supplies, Amazon account and other gadgets needed to start the course.

What do I do if I can't do the degree I want to do in Spain because I don't reach the cut-off mark?

Basically you have three options: Either give up the degree you prefer and do another degree in Spain that is less sought after, or enrol in a more expensive/less prestigious private Spanish university that is more accessible, or graduate with a degree of your choice from a public or private university in the United States of America.. In fact, many students whose grade point average makes it very difficult for them to access their favourite degree courses in Spain because they are unlikely to reach the required cut-off mark, decide not to give up their vocation and go to study at American universities. There they can be admitted to magnificent universities and study the degree of their dreams, as there are many more places available in the USA than in Spain, both public and private.

Do you carry out application processes for Masters or postgraduate degrees?

YES. However, the application process is different and much more uncertain. And therefore, we offer the possibility to study the Master in one of the 8 Universities with which we have signed a Guaranteed Admission Agreement.

Is a private or a public university better?

That is the million-dollar question. And the short answer is that it depends on the academic segment we are looking for: If we are talking about absolutely top universities like Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Princeton, Columbia, etc., obviously the best ones are private. On the other hand, if we look just one step below these top universities, we find wonderful public universities that are even better than other private universities of level 1, 2 or 3. If we talk about the Low-Cost segment, the best options are undoubtedly the public ones, since the low-cost private ones are usually very small, religious and biased. Beware of low-cost private schools!
